Bodie’s Blog Experience
I occasionally have a good thought and now I have the means to share those rare moments with you, the unsuspecting public. Today, we embark on 14 days of praying and fasting for our community. I’m excited to see all that God is going to do through this but I must say, we should be praying and fasting for those around us at all times, especially considering the amount of suffering that we see everyday. A church should stand faithfully as an intercessor for the community in which it’s planted. If we believe that God has placed our church (Genesis Church or substitute your church’s name) in this area for a reason, then it stands to reason that He fully expects us to engage that community. The first and greatest way we can do that is to begin praying consistently for them. But we should not stop there, for our prayers should be quickly followed by our feet. To quote the Apostle Paul, “Pray without ceasing” and to quote the Apostle Peter, “Serve one another.” I’ll paraphrase it in my language: “Pray like crazy & Serve like a madman” Now go crazy in your community for Jesus! 2 Corinthians 5:13
